Ruth LaVerne Nearhood

Buckley resident Ruth LaVerne Nearhood died May 2, 2016, in Tacoma. She was 87.

She was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Enumclaw. She worked at Safeway and retired in Enumclaw at 59. She was active at Hope Lutheran, was a past president of Ida Marge Guild and was a member of the Ladies Eagles Auxiliary. She loved to embroider and read and was always on the go with friends.

She is survived by husband Robert Nearhood of Buckley; daughters Karen Woldt (Gary) of Tacoma, Kathie Soler (Leonard) of Buckley, Connie Jeter (Jerry) of Buckley and Kristi Crumptom of Tacoma; son Keven Nearhood of Buckley; sister Shirley Carte (James) of California; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Karla Nearhood on May 6, 2014.

A service is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Hope Lutheran Church, 1315 Garfield St., in Enumclaw.
