Losses to graduation and changes in the South Puget Sound League 3A have left Enumclaw High boys tennis coach Adam Ihde scratching his head about this season. But, he said, if this year’s squad steps up like the 2009 team, they should be able to contend.

The Hornets finished second in league a year ago.

Enumclaw’s McCarty brothers doubles team took the final spot into May’s district tournament and just missed a spot to state. Junior Tyler returns from that team, while Jeremy graduated.

Junior Dan Milat returns. He served as a singles alternate into the district tournament and was EHS’s lone all-league, first-team pick.Senior Levi Goodin and junior Landon Berry also return.

A newcomer is Michael Lucarelli, who played golf, but decided to turn out for tennis his senior year. Ihde said he is a strong athlete, the SPSL baseball Player of the Year.
