Trevor Lubking, Ryne Peterson and Dylan Crocco return to White River High’s boys golf card.

The threesome were part of the Hornets’ fourth-place South Puget Sound League 3A team last season. But this fall, the trio and their teammates find themselves in the SPSL 2A, facing fresh competition.

Veteran coach Al Novak’s not sure how the Hornets will fare, but he said he knows they’ll be competitive.

The Hornets will have to get familiar with their own course – Tapps Island. Novak noted the team’s usage was cut back and some preseason practices were at neighboring courses like Sumner Meadows.

The Hornets kicked off the season with a jamboree at Brookdale Golf Course Sept. 1. League play got under way Tuesday with Clover Park, results came too late to be printed here, and continues Thursday at Steilacoom.
