WRHS VOLLEYBALL: Hornets plan for playoffs
September 7, 2010 · 12:09 PM
The White River High volleyball squad has four of last year’s starting six returning for the 2010 campaign.
White River, which was 7-1 during the regular season in 2009 South Puget Sound League 3A play, figures to make a more substantial impact in the newly-formed SPSL 2A.
“I hope that we will be returning to the playoffs this season,” said Hornet boss Strydar Argo, “but the teams in the new eight-team SPSL 2A aren’t going to be pushovers. Fife is supposed to be a real powerhouse annually and appears to be at the peak of its game this season with a lot of returning starters. Also, Washington, Eatonville and Steilacoom are all good teams.”
The four returning starters, all of whom are juniors, are Dannie Stroud, Haley Valalla, Courtney Hall and Jailyn VanSyckle. VanSyckle, who has started for WRHS since her freshman debut, is the Hornets’ setter and consistently serves well.
