“We are playing better and improving,” coach Jer Argo said, but it’s not translating into wins for the White River High girls golf team.

The Hornets suffered a 78-36 loss to Fife Thursday. Tia Johnson shot 52 for 12 points. Drew McCarty and Sutton Mills each carded 63 for six points and Taylor Wombacher shot a personal-best 61 for seven points.

On Sept. 29 on their home course at Tapps Island, despite a season-high 40 points, the Hornets suffered a 55-40 loss to Franklin Pierce. Johnson led White River with 51 and 11 points. Mills set personal-bests shooting 56 with 10 points. McCarty shot 58 for eight points and Caitlyn Miller had seven points.

At The Home Course Sept. 27 against Steilacoom, WRHS lost 62-32. Miller led the Hornets, shooting 55 with 10 points. Danielle Garner set her personal-best at 60 for eight points and Mills contributed a 62 with six points.

With two matches remaining in the regular season, the Hornets hope to finish strong with Sumner Thursday at Linden Golf Course. Tee time is 3:15 p.m.
