WRHS TENNIS: WRHS goes distance with Sumner

The White River High boys tennis team suffered a 3-2 South Puget Sound League 2A loss to Sumner Friday with four of the five matches going to a third set.

Against the Spartans, Tanner Williams and Josh Mills picked up a win, taking the first and third sets 6-3, 6-3. Sam Bruckbauar and Tommy McCarragher also paired up to win the first and third sets 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-5).

White River topped Steilacoom 4-1 Sept. 29.

Michael Baron won 6-2, 6-0. Noah Geehan won 6-0, 6-0. After dropping the first set 7-6 (7-5), Jason Tyler and Justin Gaull won 6-3, 6-4.

Bruckbauer and McCarragher split sets winning the first and third 6-1, 6-0.

The Hornets fell to Enumclaw 4-1 in nonleague play Thursday.

Geehan earned the Hornets’ lone victory in No. 2 singles, topping Landon Berry in three sets.
