Thursday afternoon was plenty successful for the White River High cross country program, as both the Hornet boys and girls swept opponents from Washington and Clover Park.

Running under cloudy skies on their campus course, the White River boys slipped past Washington 25-30 while the girls handled the Patriots 25-32. Clover Park forfeited both races, sending just two boys and two girls.

White River’s Kody Gould won the boys race, finishing with a time of 16 minutes, 20 seconds. Also scoring in the winning effort were Matt Salisbury, third overall with a time of 17:24; Hayden Zirkle, fifth, 18:04; Chris Fisher, seventh, 18:12; and Dru Nichols, 10th, 18:35.

On the girls side, the Hornets’ Lauryn Wate was first across the line with a time of 20:09. Also contributing to the team score were Kelly Coyle, fourth overall, 21:24; Christina Ramous, fifth, 21:47; Kalynn Gulin, 10th, 22:49; and Katie Simmons, 11th, 22:59.
