WRHS VOLLEYBALL: Hornets rolling to top
October 18, 2010 · 4:08 PM
The White River High volleyball team kept its march to the playoffs alive by steamrolling both Washington and Steilacoom in South Puget Sound League 2A volleyball action and elevating its league record to 9-2, to maintain its stranglehold on second place.
In its initial match of the week, WRHS eliminated Washington with a resounding thud, polishing off the Patriots 25-15, 25-20 and 25-12 behind a killing spree by junior duo Dannie Stroud and Jailyn VanSickle, who combined for 22 bullets over the Patriot net.
The week’s second victim was an unsuspecting Steilacoom High squad, which was also bulldozed three sets to none Oct. 14. In toppling the Sentinels 25-15, 25-12, 26-24, Stroud and VanSickle were once more a crucial element, teaming up for 21 kills. VanSickle tacked on 10 assists for good measure.
