The Enumclaw High Hornets found themselves locked in a second-place battle in the competitive South Puget Sound League 3A, sporting a record of 4-2-2 through games of last week.
The final standings, as well as playoff position, will be established this week. The Hornet girls will finish with two more regular-season contests. They took on league champion Bonney Lake Tuesday and will wrap things up Thursday by hosting the last-place Lakes Lancers.
Thursday, Enumclaw and Auburn Mountainview battled to a 1-1 draw during regulation play and overtime before the Lions won in a shootout. Juliet Bannerot scored the Hornet goal in the second half to force OT.
Oct. 19, Enumclaw hosted Decatur and defeated the Gators 2-0. Emily Meeks scored early in the game and Nadine Huff added a goal early in the second half to assure the victory.
