The White River Hornets will be looking to finish the South Puget Sound League 2A regular season on a strong note, prior to heading into postseason play.
Through games of last week, the Hornets had built a 9-3 SPSL 2A record, leaving them in second place. The odds of finishing on a high note are good, as the Hornets take on Franklin Pierce and Washington High this week, teams sitting in the sixth and seventh spots in the eight-team league. White River took on Franklin Pierce Tuesday night and finishes against the Patriots Thursday.
The Hornets entered this week on an offensive roll, having blasted Eatonville 7-0 Thursday night. Nicole Partlow and Ashley Powell scored two goals each to lead the way, while Cassidy France, Kinsey Gandel and Morgan Brown scored one each.
One of the Hornets rare losses came Oct. 19, a 2-1 overtime setback at Fife.
The Trojans scored in the first half and stayed on top until the 70th minute, when France knotted the score off an assist from Partlow. The contest ended when Fife’s Erica Dines buried a goal in overtime.
