The entire White River High boys and girls varsity cross country teams have advanced to Saturday’s district meet, based on their performance in last weekend’s subdistrict meet at Fort Steilacoom Park.
At subdistricts, the Hornet boys placed fourth and the girls were fifth. The top eight teams earned the right to advance to districts at American Lake Golf Course. Competing were all the South Puget Sound League 2A teams, along with all the Seamount League squads and Interlake High.
Individually, the highlight of the day for White River was the championship performance of Kody Gould. He won the boys race with a time of 16 minutes, 19 seconds. Also heartening for the boys was the return of Marcus Dickson; last season’s top runner, he has been sidelined since early in the campaign due to an ankle injury. He returned for subdistricts and placed fifth overall.
On the girls side, White River’s Lauryn Wate was second overall with a time of 19:15.
