A trio of Enumclaw High cross country runners – senior Emily Eilertson and juniors Chandler Weiman and Cory Johnson – represented the Hornet program during Saturday’s state championship meet.
Each had earned a trip to the state meet – staged at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco – with a Top 25 finish during the previous week’s district meet at American Lake Golf Course in Lakewood.
The state meet brought together the top runners from all classifications, from throughout the state of Washington.
In the end, Weiman had Enumclaw’s top finish, placing 26th in the girls race with a time of 19 minutes, 34 seconds. Eilertson was 35th with a time of 19:50. There were 137 entrants in the girls race.
Johnson joined a boys field of 136 and placed 72nd with a time of 17:09.
Eilertson finished her high school cross country career by appearing in her fourth state meet. Weiman ran at state for the third time and Johnson made his first state trip.
