The three-day Les Schwab Holiday Hoops Classic wasn’t particularly kind to the Enumclaw High boys, who dropped three straight tourney contests.
Play opened Dec. 28 with the Hornets falling 56-45 to Mount Rainier High. EHS got off to a slow start, scoring just five points in the first period and trailing 27-16 at intermission.
Enumclaw’s only real threat came in the middle, as post D.J. Hitch scored more than half the Hornet total, pouring in 23 points.
The following night, against Kennedy Catholic, the Hornet boys absorbed a 75-59 defeat. The second half was Enumclaw’s undoing, as the Lancers outscored EHS 40-26 to improve upon a slim, two-point halftime lead.
The Hornets showed better offensive balance, with five players scoring in double figures. Jordan Jacobson was tops with 12 points, Terann Houk, Brian Foerster and Hitch added 11 each and Anthony Chynoweth scored 10.
Thursday’s Game No. 3 brought quarter No. 4 frustration, as Enumclaw led 40-39 after three periods, only to slip in the final frame and lose 55-49 to Foster High..
Dylan Fitzpatrick and Foerster scored a dozen points each in the losing effort while Jacobson added 11.
