WRHS BOYS WRESTLING: Meagher a close second at classic

A 5-2 decision was the difference between first and second place for White River High heavyweight Dave Meagher at the Eastmont Cats Classic Thursday in Wenatchee.

Meagher, who ran into Ricky Rodriquez of Selah in the title round was the top finisher for the Hornets, who placed seventh out of 14 teams. Ellensburg won the tournament with Richland second. The Hornets finished the day with seven place winners, 25 wins, 13 pins and three major decisions.

Chris Skinner earned a third-place finish at 189. Noah Geehan, 171, Tony Tyler, 145, and Jeff Kisner, 215, finished fourth. Brandon Short picked up a fifth-place finish at 135 and Trevor Kurtz was sixth at 112.
