Enumclaw High’s boys basketball squad evened its South Puget Sound League 3A mark at 1-1 as it split a pair of league games last week.
The week began with the Hornets traveling to the Lakes Lancers’ facility Jan. 4 and absorbing a tough 69-48 defeat. The maroon and gold followed that with a 77-38 victory when it rolled across the Narrows Bridge to play a spunky Peninsula High bunch Friday.
EHS post Terenn Houk combined with senior guard Dylan Fitzpatrick to record 25 points at Lakes.
“We were able to hang in there with them in the third period but in the fourth quarter their shooters got very hot from the perimeter,” Houk said of a Lancer group that outscored the Hornets in the fourth period 23-14.
Enumclaw relied on a stingy defense to clamp down on a spirited Seahawk squad on Peninsula’s home hardwood Friday, as they held PHS to a paltry dozen points in the second half.
Senior Hornet forward D.J. Hitch was the top scorer for Enumclaw as he notched 20 points; teammate Brian Foerster chipped in 13 points.
