EHS GYMNASTICS: Hornets wind up second

The Enumclaw High gymnastics squad placed second, competing Jan. 12 in a four-team meet at Emerald Ridge High School.

The Hornets scored 161.65 team points to trail only the host Jaguars. Auburn Mountainview was third with 152.1 points and Kentlake scored 143.75 to b ring up the rear.

Enumclaw’s Olivia Bannerot was the top Hornet all-around finisher, totaling 34.25 points to place third. She scored 9.5 in the vault, good for first place, 8.45 in the bars, third, 8.3 in the floor exercise and 8.0 on the beam.

Enumclaw’s other Top 10 all-around finisher was Michelle McKinlay, who placed eighth. She had an 8.25 in the vault, 8.0 on the beam, 7.75 in the floor exercise and a 7.25 in the bars.

Other highlights for EHS came in the vault, where Molly Matheis placed fourth and Sarah Lurry tied for fifth; in the bars, where Matheis was eighth; on the beam, where Kelsey Messer was third, Matheis was fourth, Erica Bonthius tied for eighth and Nikki Wilson was 10th; and in the floor exercise, where Messer was third, Bannerot tied for fifth, Lurry tied for eighth and McKinlay was 10th.
