Kasandra Renfrow was a runner-up Saturday in the 152-pound weight class at the Jaguar Invitational at Emerald Ridge High in Puyallup.

The junior led the Enumclaw High girls wrestling team. Hornet teammates Logan Erskine and Sam Lanting placed third. Danielle Cormier finished fifth.

Coach Jerry Scheidt was pleased with each wrestler’s performance, but said Lanting, a sophomore, has made strides.

“She’s been doing great for her first year,” he said. “We’re hoping she gets to postseason; we think she should do well and advance.”

Postseason is around the corner. The Hornets are scheduled to wrestle their final tournament at Jackson High Saturday and then prepare for the subdistrict tournament Feb. 5 and 6 at Auburn Mountainview.

“We’re in a much better position than a lot of teams,” Scheidt said. “We just trying to stay healthy.”
