EHS BOYS BASKETBALL: Time runs out on Hornet rally

Enumclaw High’s boys basketball squad fell 64-61 Friday night at Decatur High as time ran short and halted a Hornet rally.
“We had been able to cut down on the turnovers and really had the momentum going for us in the fourth quarter. If there would have been one more minute in that game...we might have won,” said coach Ted Carlson, after the road setback dropped his team’s South Puget Sound League 3A mark to 3-5 and 5-13 overall.
Even though Carlson’s postgame comments sounded a little like a loser’s lament, he had a valid point. Everything was going Enumclaw’s way in the fourth frame.
The Hornets outscored Decatur 20-13 during the final quarter comeback and finally seemed to have chained up Decatur’s Jerron Smith, who pumped in 31 points on the evening, most of which had come in the previous three periods.
