EHS GYMNASTICS: EHS swings into top spot behind Bannerot-Mattheis one-two finish

Enumclaw High captured team honors Thursday and the Hornets’ Olivia Bannerot took the all-around title during a four-team gymnastics meet in Sumner.
EHS finished with 166.60 points to easily outdistance the host Spartans, who finished with 149.85. Bonney Lake placed third with 142.55 and the Tahoma Bears finished with 127.20.
Bannerot was first in the field with scores of 9.65 in the vault, 8.9 in the bars and 9.1 in the floor exercise; she tied for second on the beam with a mark of 9.0.
Teammate Molly Mattheis was second in the all-around and fellow Hornet Michelle McKinlay placed fourth. Mattheis was second in the vault, 9.6, and bars, 8.0, while placing sixth on the beam, 8.5, and tying for 10th in the floor exercise, 7.4. McKinlay was third in the vault with an 8.4, third in the bars, 7.7, fifth on the beam, 8.6, and tied for sixth in the floor exercise, 8.0.
Other Hornets landing in the Top 10 were Kelsey Messer, second on the beam and tied for third in the floor exercise; Sarah Lurry, third in the vault and fifth in the floor exercise; Erica Bonthuis, tied for fifth in the vault; Nikki Wilson, tied for sixth on the beam; and Kelly Coyle, tied for eighth in the vault and bars.
