EHS BOYS BASKETBALL: Fitzpatrick lights up board

Avenging an earlier, overtime loss to Auburn Mountainview, the Enumclaw High boys basketball team went on the road Feb. 1 and defeated the Lions 59-57.

Unlike the first meeting, the Hornets had the services of guard Dylan Fitzpatrick and post Terren Houk. Each posted 15 points in last week’s victory.

“Our team played very well as a whole in that second Auburn Mountainview game at their place,” said EHS coach Ted Carlson, “but Dylan and Terenn both stepped up.”

Fitzpatrick had five 3-pointers and 10 rebounds, while Houk also had 10 rebounds, including a put-back basket that put EHS ahead for keeps.

The early-week victory over the Lions pushed Enumclaw’s SPSL 3A accounting to 4-5 and a hard-earned 62-59 home win Friday over Bonney Lake evened out Enumclaw’s league record at 5-5. With that, the Hornets found themselves tied with the Lions for third place at regular season’s end.

The upshot of this turn of events was a one-game shootout Tuesday night. The showdown was designed to decide the SPSL 3A’s third and fourth seeds into this weekend’s subdistrict tournament.
