With a pair of subdistrict victories, the White River High boys basketball team can look forward to West Central District competition.

The Hornets square off against Olympic at 8 tonight, Wednesday, at Lakes. The winner of tonight’s encounter will advance to an 8 p.m. clash Friday at Curtis against the No. 1 seed Clover Park. Should White River beat both Olympic and Clover Park, it would punch its ticket to the state tournament.

Despite a slow start at Sequim Thursday against Tyee, the Hornets rebounded to win 50-47.

Billy Kiel pumped in seven 3-point baskets in the second half (19 points total), tabulating 27 for the game.

Saturday, in the seeding round, WRHS beat Sequim 48-43. The Hornets exploded for 28 points thanks to the combined 30 points of Kiel and Jason Tyler.
