EHS JUDO: State runners-up want title

Undefeated and state runner-up behind Kentridge is hard to top, but coach Mike Nepper believes his Enumclaw High judo team can.

The Hornets return state champions Stevie Williams and AJ Pontelandolfo, along with several runners-up who have something to prove this season.

"We will have a full squad returning, we only lost three seniors from last year," Nepper said. "We have several first year players that can make an impact for us this year. It will be a fun, fast and energetic season."

Nepper said team captains Sarah Thomas, Austin Luthi, Jade Paterson and Gavin Severson have set the bar and expectations high for the team.

"We are going to work the hardest, play our best and have fun along the way," Nepper said.

The Hornets season begins with a jamboree March 16 at the home of the defending state champion Chargers and then the Evergreen State Open March 19 in Mercer Island.
