WHITE RIVER TENNIS: Victories push Hornets to winning league record

White River High boosted its league record at 2-1 with a 3-2 victory over Franklin Pierce March 22 and a 5-0 victory over Clover Park Thursday.

Against the Cardinals, the Hornets picked up singles wins from Courtney Hall, 6-0, 6-0, and Kelli Hoffman, 6-3, 6-4, and a doubles victory from Taylor Whombacher and Heidi Lyons, 6-2, 6-3.

In the blanking of the Warriors, everyone was a winner, starting with singles players Hall, 6-0, 6-1, and Hoffman, 6-4, 6-2.

Whombacher and Lyons played to a third-set, 10-point tiebreaker for their victory.

Riley Burleigh and Annie Shindle won the No. 2 doubles match 7-5, 6-1, while Audrey Fravel and Mackenzie Reed won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 3 doubles.
