The Enumclaw High soccer team finished the regular season with a scoring explosion and now head into subdistrict competition.
The Hornets’ capped the South Puget Sound League 3A campaign Friday with a 7-1, home-field victory over the Lakes Lancers. EHS took an early lead thanks to goals by Luke Olmey, Shay Espinoza, Tyler Koenig and Austin Walsh. The commanding lead was padded in the second half on a second tally by Koenig, along with goals by Dean Bergquist and Tyler McCarthy.
The final week hadn’t started as well as Enumclaw traveled April 25 to Bonney Lake and suffered a 4-1 loss to the league-champion Panthers.
With the game out of reach, EHS received a late goal by Evan Absolor.
As the No. 5 squad from the SPSL 3A, Enumclaw High will be paired against the Decatur Gators, the No. 2 team from the SPSL 3A, in subdistrict action. The contest is planned for Tuesday, but, as of Monday morning, a time and place had not been determined.
