White River fastpitch squad off to subdistrict play

The White River fastpitch squad appears to be on the verge of finally busting a move in this rain-drenched season.
The Hornet softballers currently are sitting at 8-2 (second only to Franklin Pierce) with four games remaining to be played in this last week of the regular season.
The Hornets have certainly been in the groove lately and appear poised to embark on their journey into the second season, as last week they won three times amidst the rain drops and snow flakes.
The week began with White River traveling to Fife's diamond and getting off to a lousy start committing four errors in the field to allow Fife to jump ahead, but then rallied back for the win. The Trojans were out front 4-3 heading into the top of the seventh inning, but White River roared back to score three runs and win 7-5.
The next day White River hosted Eatonville and was ahead 3-1 by virtue of the hitting of Dylan Fagan (triple), when the rain cut loose in the sixth inning and the game was called. Eatonville only had two hits off of starting WRHS pitcher Shai Lee Hill when the game was washed out.
Friday, White River beat Fife 6-5, scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth to make a winner of Sara Steinmetz.
White River will be one of the six teams out of the eight-team SPSL 2A to go on to the subdistrict tournament Friday at the Boise Creek Sixplex in Enumclaw.
