EHS WATER POLO: Seniors to lead Hornets into state

The Enumclaw High School girls water polo team tips off the state tournament today, Wednesday, at Rogers High in Puyallup. The Hornets, who finished seventh in state last season, will meet Wilson in a 4:30 p.m. contest. This will be the Hornets’ sixth consecutive appearance at the state tournament.

EHS closed out its 2011 regular season with a 14-11 win over Puyallup Thursday to finish the regular season with a 14-6 record, 8-2 in league.

Senior Ali Ballard led the Hornets with five goals. Senior teammate Erin Stucker added four more. Annie Birklid and Hannah Kinniburgh pumped in two each and Katie Larrea added one.

Ballard again led the Hornets in scoring with four in a 10-4 win over Lakes May 10.

Stucker provided the one-two punch for the Hornets slamming in three more goals. Larrea added two and Alina Van Ruff rounded out the scoring with one.
