EHS TRACK: Enumclaw High sends nine to state 3A meet

Freshman Maria Blad will compete in two individual events at the upcoming state Class 3A track and field championships, leading a crew of nine Enumclaw High athletes who qualified for the three-day meet.

All qualified last week during the Friday/Saturday district championships at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma. The state finals, also at Mount Tahoma, begin Thursday.

Blad placed second in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 15.92 seconds, and finished third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47.62.

Other EHS girls earning a state berth were Hannah Calvert, who placed fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.04, and AnnaMarie Forza, fourth in the javelin, 120 feet, 1 inch.

Additionally, the EHS crew in the 4x400 relay qualified for state after placing fourth with a time of 4:10.67. Making up the team are Olivia Bannerot, Emily Eilertson, Chandler Weiman and Calvert.

For the Enumclaw High boys, David Brazier will be making a state meet appearance. He was third at the district meet in the pole vault, clearing 13-6.
