Former Enumclaw High golfer Jordan Beals was among 78 players competing for three spots into the U.S. Amateur Championship Aug. 1 in Fall City. Players battled the championship layout of the par-71 course in sunny conditions and, ultimately, Tze Huang Choo of Singapore, Charlie Hughes of Canada, and Austin Hurt of Bainbridge Island, prevailed.

Lake Tapps’ Sean Packer will serve as an alternate. Beals posted scores of 82 and 84 for 166.

Entries were open for players with a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 2.4. The U.S. Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA.
