EHS FOOTBALL: Hornets crushed 49-7 by visiting Titans

The Class 4A Union football squad struck gold Friday evening, trouncing an overmatched Enumclaw bunch 49-7.
Union, still smarting from a stinging setback at the hands of a brutish Bothell bunch the week before, eventually took its frustration out on the South Puget Sound League 3A Hornets, but may have been taken aback when the Hornets drew first blood early.
Midway through the initial quarter, Enumclaw moved the ball adeptly down its new artificial playing surface, capping its solitary scoring march with a 6-yard toss from Tyler Carlson to Perry Rockwood. Hornet kicker Matthew Wasisco booted the pigskin through the uprights and Enumclaw owned a 7-0 advantage.
After this early wake up alarm was sounded, the slumbering Titans came to life.
In the ensuing three stanzas, the flood gates opened as the angered Titans unleashed their full fury on the unsuspecting Hornets, with a tidal wave of offensive firepower that washed away any aspirations the inexperienced Enumclaw crew might have held.
With the loss, Enumclaw’s record dropped to 1-1 overall.
A tandem of road tilts loom menacingly on the horizon for the hopeful Hornets. EHS will visit Tacoma’s Lincoln High Friday and take on Capital High Sept. 23 at Ingersoll Stadium in Olympia.
