WRHS TENNIS: White River stays near top

As the season winds to a close, the White River boys tennis team added one more victory to its league record.

The Hornets topped Steilacoom 4-1 Sept. 28, but lost 4-1 to Sumner Friday.

Against the Spartans, the doubles team of Sam Bruckbauer and Lyle McCarragher earned the Hornets’ lone victory, 6-1, 6-3.

With the Sentinels, both Drew Maras and David Connelly won 6-1, 6-1 in singles play. Bruckbauer and McCarragher took the first and third sets 6-4, 7-5, dropping a middle set 7-6 (7-4). Alec Anastasi and Travis Meyers also picked up a win, taking the first and third sets 6-3, and dropping the middle set 7-5.
