EHS GIRLS WRESTLING: Three lady Hornets earn third in Yelm

December 5, 2011 · 1:47 PM

With three Hornets sidelined, the Enumclaw High girls wrestling team proved it has some depth as three earned third-place finishes at the Yelm tournament Saturday.

An added bonus, the Lady Hornets earned two wins by technical fall. Coach Jerry Scheidt said in its five-year history, the team has posted five technical falls.

"That just shows how far we've come," Scheidt said.

Danielle Cormier, 155 pounds, Logan Erskine, 170, and KC Lynn Moulden, 275, were the Hornets' third-place winners. Kasandra Renfrow finished fifth at 170 pounds.

Scheidt was equally excited about how his rookie wrestlers performed in the "B" bracket.

Freshman Raquel Cormier won the 137-pound division and in her first competition Kristen Green placed second at 118 pounds.

Chantal Capps picked up her first win.

"They gained confidence and good experience," Scheidt said.

The Hornets will join forces with White River Saturday for the Lady Hornets Classic, a first-time event hosted by the two schools. The round-robin tournament is designed to give wrestlers competition at their own skill level. Enumclaw wrestlers are also hoping to get a few matches in against Bonney Lake Wednesday night.
