Thirteen sophomore fillies including four stakes winners have been nominated to the $50,000 Seattle Handicap to be run Sunday, May 27.

The Seattle at 6-½ furlongs is the first stakes of the season for 3-year-old fillies, a four-race series that culminates Saturday, Aug. 11 with the $65,000 Washington Oaks at 1-1/8 miles.

Talk to My Lawyer, last year’s champion Juvenile Female, comes off a 1-¼-length allowance victory in her yearly debut last month at 5-½ furlongs. The Washington-bred daughter of Lawyer Ron-Infernal McGoon won the 2011 Gottstein Futurity vs. males, and also was stakes-placed twice against females.

Exclusive Diva, who knocked off Talk to My Lawyer in the Angie C Stakes, and Sweet Saga, who beat both Talk to My Lawyer and Exclusive Diva in the Barbara Shinpoch Stakes, also are nominated to the Seattle.

Regal Betty, from the powerful John Sadler stable in Southern California, captured the one-mile Arizona Oaks on Feb. 25 and raced in two graded events on her home circuit.

Royal Moses was stakes placed twice last year as a maiden and romped by 3-¾ lengths in her 2012 debut. River of Aces already is a double winner at the meet while Lady Hokulea, an impressive maiden winner here last year, returns to Emerald Downs after finishing first and third in allowance races this winter at Golden Gate.

Last year’s Seattle winner, Class Included, wound up claiming honors as Emerald Downs’ Top 3-Year-Old Filly.
