After a threepeat of trips to the state tournament in 2009, 2010 and 2011, Sumner's girls soccer team has acquired a taste for high-level play and is hungry to return to the state pitch and possibly ascend beyond the Elite Eight.
Head Coach Robi Turley is joined by former Spartan Kaylee Holloway in leading the 2012 season's team.
Returning varsity athletes are Kaylie Rozell, Jamie Lange, Sarah Carter, Brooke Lancaster, Alyssa Murray and Nichole Delaney.
Promising varsity newcomers are Kinsey Saiz and Dacia Alexander.
The Spartans will play a non-league game against the Bonney Lake Panthers Sept. 6 at 7 p.m.
