Cross Country | Enumclaw Hornet squad opens season with home win | Slidesshow

Girls and boys Enumclaw cross country teams swept Bonney Lake Wednesday at the high school course in the opening meet of the South Puget Sound League 3A schedule.
The boys won 24-31 and the girls 28-41.
Looking at the season coach Jeff Jacobsen saw a number of strong contenders for the boys and girls.
The boys team is lead by Alec Rhome, who took the top spot against Bonney Lake in 16 minutes, 48 seconds.
Also expected to be running well for the Hornets are Dylan Hamel, Josh Sanders, Peter Berger, Chase Olson, Eric Hamel, Stephan Alvidrez and Jeff Dahlquist.
For the girls Hannah Calvert and Aleea Gwerder ran third and fourth respectively for the Hornets against the Panthers.
Jacobsen pointed to Samantha Engebretsen, Riley Desmul, Abby Callison, Lindsay Ross, Peyton Vick and Audrey Brown as runners able to go the distance and more.
The Hornets will be running next at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday against Lakes at Fort Steilacoom Park.
