It was a tough Friday night at Pete’s Pool field for the Enumclaw High Hornets.

The EHS football squad lost 44-7 to Skyview, from Vancouver, Wash.

The Hornets now have a 2-2 overall record with victories over White River and Heritage High and a loses to Central Kitsap and Skyview.

The next test for Enumclaw is its first South Puget Sound League 3A game, coming at 7 p.m. Friday when the Hornets host Auburn Mountainview.

Following the Lions, the Hornets will face Lakes, Bonney Lake and Peninsula in successive weeks.

This week’s foe is 1-3 with a victory over Mount Tahoma and loses to Sumner, Camas and Battle  Ground.

Friday the Hornets faced a Greater St. Helens League 4A team in Skyview, which was ranked 16th in the state by maxpreps.com.

Enumclaw’s score came on the ground with an 8-yard run by Mauricio Portillo. A couple of 15-yard penalties by Skyview helped keep the Hornet offense on the field.

Caleb Gwerder converted the extra point giving the Hornets its only seven of the night.
