Enumclaw Hornets fall in overtime | Prep Football

The Enumclaw homecoming football game provided everything from high scoring action, three touchdown passes and field goals – everything but a victory.
The Hornets battled Auburn Mountainview to double overtime before finally falling 24-23 when the Lions’ Devin Bryant’s blocked the extra-point attempt.
Enumclaw put up the first numbers when the duo of quarterback Peter Nordby hit junior Bryce Peterson on the first of three touchdowns through the air. In the first frame, Nordby hit Peterson on a 12-yard pass for the touchdown.
The Hornets posted 10 points in the fourth to tie the game. Again Nordby hit Peterson on a 32-yard touchdown pass.
Caleb Gwerder hit a 20-yard field goal to send the game into overtime.
In the second overtime Nordby hit Peterson for a third time on a 9-yard pass for six. The Lions blocked the extra point kick to secure the win.
The loss dropped Enumclaw’s record at 2-3 overall and 0-1 in South Puget Sound League, 3A Conference.
Next up for the Hornets is SPSL opponent Lakes 7 p.m. Friday at home. Lakes has the same overall record as Enumclaw. Lakes beat Decatur 55-18 to earn a 1-0 record in the SPSL.
