EHS water polo finishes regular season, gearing up for state tournament

In a final tune-up before the state water polo tournament, the Enumclaw High crew took on the defending state champions from Bellevue High.

Playing Thursday night in their home pool, the Hornets fell 14-9 to the Eastside squad.

EHS was led in scoring by Bennon VanHoof, who tallied five goals. Adding to the total were Thomas Petersen, Riley Sexton, Mason Culp and Brandon Butler with one each.

With the defeat, the Hornets finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-8-1. That included an 11-3 mark in league play, which earned the Hornets a league championship.

The state tournament begins Nov. 7 at Lakes and Rogers high schools. Pairings will not be determined until this weekend's wild card tournament is completed.
