Prep Basketball | Enumclaw Hornets drop a thriller at home | Slideshow

The Hornets boys came up short Thursday at home against Lakes falling 49-52.

The boys played big in their second South Puget Sound League 3A game of the season coming from behind to take the lead more than once.

Enumclaw was down by one, 24-23 at the half and fell back by seven in the third before mounting a surge to take a 36-35 lead.

The teams continued to battle down the fourth quarter stretch, with both teams trying to capitalize on fast break opportunities.

The game came down to a few second and a few chances at the end of the game.

With 15 seconds remaining and Lakes leading, Enumclaw stole the ball during a Lakes stall drill.

After a time out, Enumclaw had a chance to tie the game at the foul line, but the basketball gods decided it wasn’t the Hornets’ night.

Despite the loss, the battle in the paint by Drake Rademacher and Jr. Condon showed a Enumclaw team that is on the verge of some big games.

Perry Rockwood’s drives gives the team a needed dimension and he was leading scorer with 14.

Rademacher hit 11 and Bryce Peterson added nine with Condon putting in seven.

Tony Chynoweth scored six.
