Enumclaw girls wrestling results | Coach Jerry Scheidt

The results of the Dec. 21st tournament at Auburn Mountainview.

We had seven wrestlers at the tournament and there were more than 300 girl participants. They ran a round robin tournament where each girl wrestled three matches.

Jaelen Hobert (124 pounds) - went one and two and finished third. She lost by fall to Katie Hurtado of Yelm in the first round. In the 2nd match she won by forfeit and in 3rd match she lost by fall to Tina Vazuez by fall in first round. Jaelen is growing each time she is on the mat. She is working on learning how to not get herself in trouble in her matches. She is a first year wrestler and should really come on in the next few weeks as she continues to understand what to do and what not to do.

Ally Smith (155 pounds) - Ally went one and two on the day. Got her first win of the season. Is coming back off of an injury sustained during 1st tournament. In her first match pinned Mikayla Jolley of Lynden 22 seconds in the first round. In her second match, she was pinned by Sandra Storm of Heritage High School of Vancouver in the first round. Then in her third match Ally was in a close match and was trailing by one point when she was caught by a head and arm and pinned with 30 seconds left in her match.

Chantal Capps (235) - only wrestled one time before going out with a slight concussion. She lost by fall in her first match in 1 minue and ended up 4th in the tournament.

Raquel Cormier (145) - went 0-3 in the tournament losing by fall in all three matches. In her last match she hurt her shoulder but finished the match as she battled the girl after being caught in a head and arm early.

Kristen Green (124) - went 1-2 on the day. In her first match, she lost in a 3-2 decision. Kristen rode the girl for four minutes in the match, but struggled to get a near fall to seal the win. In her second match, she won by fall with just one second left in the first round over Lisa Kenyon of Mt. Tahoma. Then in her 3rd match, Kristen lost to Heather Smith of Todd Beamer High School in federal way 4-0. The score was 1-0 going into the 3rd round. Then in the final round smith got and escape and takedown to seal the win. Kristen ended up 3rd in tournament.

KC moulden (235) - went 3-0 on the day and wrestled less than two min the entire day. In the 1st match she pinned Keri Leoso of Mt. Tahoma in 40 seconds after taking her down and cradling her to a pinning position. Then in round two, she wrestled Hannah Nunoz of Highline and won by a fall in 1:00 in the first round. Finally she wrestled Seoma Suiznai from Federal Way high school and won by fall after taking her down and cradling her to a fall in 25 seconds. She ended up 1st in the tournament on the day.

Danielle Cormier (155) - went 3-0 on the day and wrestled her best tournament ever. Danielle wrestled super tough and basically wore her girls out with her conditioning. "she basically broke 2 of her girls by wrestling so hard, that they wore themselves out physically and gave up mentally. Danielle has been really working hard everyday running 3 miles a day before or after practice to improve her conditioning. This was the best I have seen Danielle wrestle. If she keeps this level of intensity and work, she will put herself in a great position to achieve all of her goals in the post-season." In her first match she beat Cindy Nunnez of Todd Beamer High School (who was a regional qualifier and alternate to state) in her first match 10-2. In her second match, she beat Jolene Carrell of Centrailia 4-1 in a match she basically dominated in riding time. Danielle had two takedowns out of bounds to her back and also rode the Carrell for 3:15 of the second and third rounds. Finally, Danielle won her third match with a first round fall in 1:20 over Jasmine Leonard of Rochester.

The girls next tournament is Dec 27th at Federal Way High School for the SPSL League Tournamant. It will start at 9 a.m. and the finals will start approximately at 3 p.m. in the afternoon.
