Summer track program features Enumclaw and White River coaches

Track and field athletes looking for summer training and competition have an opportunity through a program headed by Enumclaw and White River coaches.

Practices for elementary-age athletes will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays at White River High School and Tuesdays at Enumclaw High. The cost is $60 and the program runs through July 30. The elementary students will be coached by various high school track athletes and coaches from their high schools.

Middle school and high school athletes will have the same opportunity to improve their speed and track abilities. Practices are slated for the same time as elementary tracksters and the cost is $75 for middle schoolers and $100 for high school students. The middle and high school athletes will be instructed by coaches from both high schools and former collegiate athletes.

Participants have the opportunity to be coached in sprints, distance running, hurdles, jumps and throwing events. They will work on techniques, fundamentals, strength training and conditioning.

All ages will be able to compete at a variety of locations including Sparks Stadium in Puyallup, Orting Middle School and Enumclaw High School.
