An eventful trip proved no problem for California invader Lil Barbie Doodle inFridaynight’s feature race at Emerald Downs.

With leading rider Leslie Mawing aboard, Lil Barbie Doodle rolled to a 2 ½-length victory over betting favorite Lumen Took It in the $10,300 feature for older fillies and mares.

Owned and trained by Tim McCanna, Lil Barbie Doodle ran one mile in 1:37.04 and paid $6.80, $3.80 and $2.40. The well-traveled 4-year-old filly already has raced this year at Santa Anita, Turf Paradise, Golden Gate Fields and Emerald Downs.

Friday, she broke outward from the No. 5 post-position and was rank while racing wide around the first turn. Finally settling into an even stride, she gradually made her way to the lead, opened a commanding four-length advantage into the stretch, and had plenty left to hold off Lumen Took It for the victory.

Lumen Took It, ridden by Rocco Bowen, rallied form last to finish second and paid $3.20 and $2.40. It was another three lengths back to Anitewithyou, ridden by Gallyn Mitchell, and a $3 show payoff.

Inquiry Miss and Mini Candy completed the order of finish; Seattle Harbor was scratched.

A Florida-bred by Pomeroy-Powerful Two Punch, Lil Barbie Doll has a 3-2-2 record in 24 starts with lifetime earnings of $38,519.
