Smaller team still does well for BLHS

The Bonney Lake Panther gymnasts had a good start to the season Dec. 3 at Auburn Riverside.

Bonney Lake came to the meet with a small team of eight girls, but coach Kathleen Kirkpatrick said the team still broke the 100-point barrier, scoring 113.15

Auburn Riverside won the meet with 162.45, Emerald Ridge was second with 155.9 and Decatur placed third at 125.15.

Kelsi Potterf scored 8.3 on the vault for Bonney Lake. She came in fifth in the beam event with a score of 7.9 and she scored 7.8 in the floor exercise.

Potterf was sixth all-around with 30.25 out of 40 points.

Sarah Skinner scored 7.9 in the vault and 7.5 on the beam. Kirkpatrick said she hit a impressive double back-walkover on the beam.

Erica LeFevers scored 4.1 out of 5 with a beginner routine on the bars. The coach said she expects LeFevers will move up to the next level by this week.

Taylor Schoon, competing for the first time on the beam, scored 4.7.

The next meet for the Panthers is 7 tonight, Wednesday, at Auburn High against the Trojans, Federal Way and Kentwood.
