More experience and a few more wins is what the six Enumclaw High girls wrestlers who attended Saturday’s round-robin tournament at Foss High earned.
Jennifer Paterson picked up two pins and a technical fall for three wins at the tournament. She pinned Brianna Monahan of Bonney Lake in 1 minute, scored a 15-0 technical fall over her Kent-Meridian opponent and just before time ran out in the first round of her third match, she pinned her opponent there, too.
Alicia McDougall also earned three wins, including her 20-second pin in the final match with Yelm. She moves to 6-0 for the season.
Breanna Flaquinti won two and lost one, her only loss coming at the hands of teammate Chantelle Bailey. Flaquinti is 7-1 on the season with seven pins.
Rose Johnson went 2-1 for the day with both her victories coming with falls. Her single loss came to Chloe Grafwallner of Mount Baker, whom Johnson beat twice last season. Coach Jerry Scheidt said the EHS junior got caught and won’t likely let it happen again.
Bailey’s single win for the day came over her Hornet sparring partner. She suffered two losses. Logann Erskine also went 1-2.
“Both her losses were rookie mistakes,” Scheidt said.
The Lady Hornets also sent three wrestlers to Rogers High Friday night where Flaquinti won her opener with a 50-second pin and her second-round victory with a 3:16 pin.
Johnson and Bailey went 1-1. Johnson lost to last year’s fourth-place state finisher. Bailey won her first match of the year by pin and then lost after leading 6-0.
The Lady Hornets are at the Rogers Holiday Tournament Saturday.
