Puyallup’s Rogers High canceled its boys’ and girls’ holiday wrestling tournament due to poor weather, but is inviting all the teams back for competition and a second go Saturday.

It was the only good news in a dismal week for Enumclaw High wrestling, which hasn’t been able to take the mat for practice or competition since Dec. 17.

“We’re kind of dead in the water,” coach Lee Reichert said.

The Hornets had to cancel their South Puget Sound League 3A dual match with Peninsula Dec. 17, their tri-dual contest with Kentwood and Yelm Thursday and the Rogers Holiday Tournament Saturday.

Reichert anticipates making up the dual with Peninsula in January, probably on a Thursday, and, at press time, was also still trying to secure a make-up date for the tri-dual with the Conquerors and Tornadoes.

The Hornets, who finished first at the White River Classic tournament and second at the Sedro Woolley Spud Valley Invitational this season, are scheduled to head to the prestigious Pac-Coast tournament Jan. 2 and 3 in Vancouver, Wash., and then return to travel to Buckley Jan. 7 to meet White River in South Puget Sound League action.
