The White River High girls quickly established themselves as the hottest team in the South Puget Sound League 3A ranks and will be looking to continue their winning ways during a crucial Friday night showdown.

Tipping off at 7 p.m., White River will challenge Bonney Lake on the Panthers’ home court.

The game brings together two of the division’s top three squads. Heading into the week, White River was tied with Enumclaw for the top spot, each with a 3-0 record, and Bonney Lake was just a notch behind at 3-1.

White River continues league play Tuesday, traveling to Sumner to face the lowly Spartans.

The Hornets picked up a nonleague victory at home Saturday night, defeating Graham-Kapowsin 63-54. It was an impressive win, as the visitors led the South Puget Sound League 4A South with a 4-0 mark.

The Hornets finished the first half with a bang, rattling off enough points to head to the locker room with a 39-24 lead. The first two quarters were highlighted by an offensive showing from Brooke Paulson and Kendall Williams, who scored 15 and 12 points, respectively.

The second half wasn’t nearly as dominant for the Hornets, who saw the visitors pull to within seven points, but White River held on for the win. Paulson finished with 18 points, Williams added 17 and Kelsi Tyler chipped in with 11.
