League-leading Lady Hornets return to action with Lions

Following three full weeks of nothing but drills and scrimmages, the Enumclaw High girls return to action this week with a flurry of games.

The Hornet girls took on Auburn Mountainview Tuesday evening and will host the next two contests, taking on Lakes High Friday and Clover Park Saturday. Game time for both home contests is 7 p.m. Results of the Auburn Mountainview battle came too late to be included here.

“They’re ready to play, no question about it,” coach Ted Carlson said. “We felt like we were playing real well and I hope we can pick up where we left off.”

During the extended break from live action, Carlson has tried to keep his troops sharp.

“As a team, we were doing a lot of good things,” he said. The Hornets were committing fewer turnovers, battling even under the boards and “we were starting to find the range on our shots,” Carlson said.

That efficiency was reflected on the scoreboard. After dropping their first two games, the Enumclaw High girls rattled off four straight victories – three of those being South Puget Sound League 3A contests. The 3-0 league start put the Hornets in a first-place, early-season tie with neighboring White River.
