The Enumclaw High girls kept their season alive Wednesday night with a convincing 67-51 victory over Capital High. They are know two victories shy of earning a berth in the Class 3A state tournament.
Wednesday’s game at Mount Rainier High School marked the opening round of the West Central/Southwest bidistrict tournament. It was a loser-out affair.
With a tourney victory under their belts, the Hornet girls next play at 6 p.m. Friday at Auburn Riverside High School. They will take on the Mount Rainier Rams, who lost Wednesday night to a Prairie High team that is ranked No. 2 in the state. If they win Friday, they will play either Auburn Mountainview or Port Angeles in a winner-to-state game; that contest would be played at 8 p.m. March 6 at Clover Park High School.
Leading the offense during Wednesday’s victory were Mara Koplitz with 17 points, Heather Hitch with 14 and Jessalyn Clark with 12.
