In nonleague action Friday, the Class 4A Tahoma Bears pounded out 11 hits as they defeated Sumner 7-1 on the Spartans’ home field.

Tahoma took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning and the Spartans cut the lead in half with their only run in the fifth. The Bears added three runs in the sixth and two insurance runs in the seventh.

The Spartans collected eight hits off Tahoma pitching.

Pitcher Tanner Walker took the loss for Sumner.

The Spartans will host the Yelm Tornadoes at 4:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, and host 4A Emerald Ridge Thursday. They hit the road Friday to face North Thurston in the final nonleague encounter. They open up South Puget League Sound 3A play Tuesday at home against Enumclaw.
