Doubles bring SHS back

Sumner High won on the road March 18, as the Spartans began the regular season with a 3-2 nonleague win over North Thurston in girls tennis.

Down 2-0 after the singles matches, the Spartans rallied to win all three doubles matches.

Emily Taylor and Reanne Charuhas defeated Negheen Kamkar and Mary McCarty by 6-2, 6-2 scores; Erinn Carlson and Lyndsey Plute slipped past Sydney O’Dell and Kelly Janer 6-2, 7-6; and Rachel Hilburn and Trish Mayer defeated Kodi Wilson and Nicole Riley 6-1, 6-3.

In singles play, Sumner’s Brittany Fulton lost to Lena Macomson 6-0, 6-0, and Julia Charuhas fell to Andi Solvenson 6-1, 6-1.

The Spartans play at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Auburn Mountainview.
