Spartans dominated doubles play again

The Sumner High girls tennis team took a break from South Puget Sound League 3A tennis action.

They went to Yelm and defeated the Tornadoes 4-1 in nonleague play April 7. The Spartans dominated doubles play. Emily Taylor and Reanne Charuhas won 6-0, 6-2; Erinn Carlson and Lyndsey Plute easily won their match 6-0, 6-0 and Rachel Hilburn and Trish Mayer won 6-0, 6-1.

In singles action, Julia Charuhas beat Michele Nieman, 6-2, 6-0, but teammate Brittany Fulton fell to Emma Leimback, 6-3, 6-2.

The Spartans host Capital Thursday then travel to Port Orchard Saturday to face South Kitsap in nonleague play. They return home Tuesday to face Enumclaw.
